Firearm Safety

Safe Handling - The Four Core Rules

  1. Always treat every firearm as if it’s loaded. Never assume otherwise.

  2. Keep your finger off the trigger until you intend to shoot. Rest it along the frame.

  3. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction. Be mindful of where a discharged round could travel.

  4. Be certain of your target and what’s beyond it. Know the full environment before any discharge.

Storage & Access Control

Keep firearms unloaded and stored separately from ammunition. Use approved locking devices, safes, or secured storage that limits access by children, unauthorized persons, and anyone who shouldn’t handle firearms. Regularly review who has access and maintain clear, written procedures for access and custody.

Transporting Firearms Safely

When transporting, firearms should be unloaded, placed in a locked container or case, and stored separate from accessible ammunition, in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Always verify jurisdiction-specific transport rules before travel.

Training & Competence

Regular, professional training is essential. We recommend certified instructors and accredited courses for safe handling, marksmanship, storage best practices, and legal compliance — especially for those in workplaces or roles with elevated safety responsibilities.

Maintenance & Inspection

Perform routine, manufacturer-recommended inspections and maintenance on all firearms and related equipment. If you are unsure about maintenance tasks, consult a qualified gunsmith or the manufacturer’s service center rather than improvising.

Legal Compliance & Responsible Ownership

Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws governing possession, transfer, transport, and use. If transferring firearms or regulated components, follow the appropriate licensed-channel procedures (FFL transfers, background checks, etc.) and retain required records.

In Case of an Incident

If an injury or unsafe discharge occurs: secure the area if safe to do so, provide or obtain medical help immediately (call emergency services), and preserve the scene for first responders. Notify appropriate authorities and follow your organization’s incident reporting procedures if applicable.
